Attributions
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Getting attribution right matters. A quote carries more weight when you can trust that the person actually said it. On IdeaKache, a quote only gets an author's name attached if there is real evidence connecting the words to that person.
A quote is attributed to an author when the source meets at least one of the following standards:
- Seen in the person's own published book;
- Seen in an official transcript of their words;
- Heard directly in a podcast or video recording;
- Seen on the person's own channels; or
- Found in a credible, named secondary source, such as a book
A quote being widely attributed to a person on the internet does not generally meet the standards of IdeaKache.
Editing Conventions
Capitalization and the final punctuation mark of a quote may be silently adjusted for readability when a quote is excerpted mid-sentence. For spoken-word sources, minor edits for brevity and clarity, such as removing filler words and verbal tics, are sometimes made, provided they never alter the speaker's meaning. Any change that affects substance or wording is marked with brackets or ellipses.
